APL increases number of trained investigators 
Little seemed amiss at first when humane investigator Sharmin Doering responded to a report of a dog left unattended at a home in Springfield. Doering, a volunteer investigator for the Animal Protective League, saw nothing in the back yard - no food, no water, no sign of an animal.
